What is a neon sign?
A neon sign is a lighting fixture made from bent glass tubes filled with inert gas (neon or other noble gases) that glow when an electric current passes through them. LED “neon” uses flexible LED strips in shaped channels to mimic this effect.
What’s the difference between LED neon and traditional glass neon?
- Glass Neon: True neon gas-based lighting, vibrant colors, slight flicker, requires careful handling.
- LED Neon: Flexible, shatterproof, lower power draw, easier to install, often more cost-effective. All our signs use LED technology for maximum durability.
- LED neon signs are typically more affordable than traditional glass neon. LED neon also uses 80% less energy, is shatterproof, and requires no specialized installation—further reducing total cost of ownership. See our shop for current pricing.
How long can you leave a neon sign on?
Our LED Neon lasts 50,000+ hours of operation (5-10 years or more), depending on usage patterns. All our signs come with a 2-year warranty. Our LED neon signs are designed for extended use and can safely run 24/7.
Can neon signs be used outdoors?
Yes—LED neon can be weather-resistant when built with appropriate waterproof seals and outdoor-rated power supplies. Select IP67 outdoor waterproof sealing when ordering your custom sign for signs exposed to weather.
